Splits analysis: 30 km women

Therese Johaug did a fantastic race – crushing the others in the tough uphills in today’s 30 km mass start in Holmenkollen. As you see on the illustration above (see interactive version here), Johaug opened up a gap after around half of the race to Bjørgen and Kowalczyk.

The gap was constant for one loop, and the last time up the long hill towards Frognerseteren Johaug increased the gap from around 20 seconds to more than a minute.

Explanation of the illustration: A flat line means that a skier had the best time on that split – when the line goes down, a skier looses time. There are a total of 25 splits, each split representing between 1 and 2 kilometers of skiing.
